Metamorphosis
German: Verwandlung
Common meaning:
Change, transformation, especially of form or identity.
Clear meaning:
The complete inner movement in which nothing is added—only the falling away of what was, into what is.
Verwandlung = ver- (completion, inversion) + wandeln (to walk, to change) + -ung (process).
Commonly, transformation is imagined as becoming something else.
But in true structure, it is the ending of identification with what was.
Not: “I am now different.”
But: “I no longer hold what I thought I was.”
Transformation does not alter the surface.
It dissolves the premise that surface was ever true.
