Pride

German: Stolz

Common meaning:
A feeling of dignity, self-respect, or superiority—often linked to accomplishment, identity, or belonging.
Clear meaning:
The final defense of identity against dissolution—not dignity, but the effort to preserve a self-image that feels at risk.

Pride is not rooted in wholeness.
It is born from separation
needing recognition.
It says:
“I am this—because I’ve made myself this.”
But whatever must be made
can be unmade.
And whatever depends on contrast
is never complete.

True dignity does not rise.
It simply is.
Pride holds form.
Clarity lets it go.
