Rationalization

German: Rationalisierung

Common meaning:
Justification through reasoning; explaining away impulses or discomfort with logic
Clear meaning:
The wrapping of inner tension in logic—not clarity, but the attempt to make the unconscious controllable through structure.

Rationalization is not reason—
it is avoidance disguised as reason.

It appears where something was felt
but could not be allowed to move.

So instead of being held,
it is reframed
in argument, explanation, cognitive safety.

Structurally, rationalization is not understanding.
It is emotional defense dressed as thought.

Rationalization doesn’t clarify—
it replaces what was alive
with what is safe.
