Characteristic, Trait

German: Eigenschaft

Common meaning:
A trait, attribute, feature, or quality of something or someone.
Clear meaning:
The appearance of “owned form”—a temporary signal mistaken for fixed identity.

Eigenschaft breaks down to eigen (“own, one’s own”)
and -ship (state, condition, collectivity).

But structurally, how can anything be “one’s own”
if the self is not separate?

And what is being “shaped,”
if form is not fixed?

A characteristic is not essence—
it is a flicker of movement observed and named.
It is a momentary configuration,
made solid only by repetition or story.

In clear perception, there are no traits—only arising.
No ownership—only appearance.

To know this is not to reject form,
but to let it breathe—
unglued from identity.
