Authenticity
German: Authentizität
Common meaning:
Being genuine, honest, and true to oneself; expressing one’s inner reality without performance or pretense.
Clear meaning:
The absence of the need to appear real—not self-expression, but the end of the one who curates the self.
Authenticity comes from authentes—to act from one’s origin.
But often, it becomes a new identity:
“Be real. Be you.”
But in clear structure, there is no you to be.
There is no mask—
because there is no face to protect.
Authenticity is not showing yourself.
It is what remains
when nothing is left to present.
True authenticity is not expressed.
It is
when all expression becomes
unnecessary.
